Our day started with an hour taxi ride to the Yogyakarta airport from our AirBNB near the Hyatt. After checking in for our flight we made our way through security and the national anthem started to play. Everyone froze except us, we were like “why has everyone stopped working.” We made it to our gate with a little time to spare. We took this time to split up our remaining rupiahs to buy candy and souvenirs. Naturally I went straight to the A&W for a late breakfast. I got the curly fries meal, complete with a glass mug of cold root beer. Nothing less then perfect. We boarded the plane knowing that this one of the shorter flights, we were in route to Kuala Lumpur. This was only like a one hour 40 minute flight. We had a ten hour lay over in KL. It took 30 minutes to get to the correct terminal and then we killed time waiting for our check to open. This gave us time to go to the McDonalds. I was going to get a large Coke but Dad thought otherwise (see above.) This was the first time in my life that I’ve been to fast food restaurants two times in one day.

Our next flight was KL to Singapore for a quick stop before reboarding our same plane to Addis Ababa. This was approximately nine hours and 45 minutes. By far the longest flight I’ve been on. I slept for a good six hours in a comfortable crisscross with mom, stretched out over three seats. There were TV’s on this flight but half of them didn’t work. The sound didn’t work in one of them and dad’s screen didn’t work. We woke up in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. For some reason I felt rested and ready for our last leg of travel, a six hour and 30 minute flight on Ethiopian Air to Cape Town, SA. In Cape Town we grabbed our bags and hauled them to our new flashy white VW Polo. After folding ourselves into the tiny toy car we raced off to our next stop, Hout Bay. From start to finish it took us around 36 hours

We’re finally getting closer to home.
Oh Grant, I love your posts! I can just see you sprawled out on the airplane having a good sleep after discovering that half the tv’s don’t work. What a long travel day +. We’ve been trying to keep track of your “ movements” on our world map hanging on the wall, but Gabe’s been slacking off. He’ll have to plat catch up this weekend. Yes, you are getting closer to home. ❤️. My advice is just keep building memories and enjoying all these amazing experiences for the last leg of your trip. Love to you, Liv, and your dad and mom. Happy Easter!🐣🐇. Love you 🥰
