We landed in Fethiye, Turkey a couple weeks ago. In walking around town we found a place that has backgammon and tea. There are only three tables and they are all outdoors, so sometimes you get a table and sometimes you don’t. However, there’s always several tiny plastic stools at each table and more can always be added. The stools are a flimsy plastic that tend to have cracks in the tops that pinch your butt when you make a move on the board. We’ve only added a few cracks of our own. There are older men there that play the whole day. It takes them about two minutes to finish their game, it takes us seven. The game of backgammon is boring until you really know how to play. It’s a game of skill, strategy and a little luck in the roll.

Next door to the tea shop was a barber shop, one of many in this town. After a game of backgammon one afternoon we made a move towards the barber shop. Dad went first, I tagged along. There was a little lost in translation in the beginning but we finally ended up side by side in the chairs. Dad ended up with the full beard, hair, wax combo. I ended up with the hair combo. The combo included arm stretching up over the head, a back massage, a face/head massage flipped forward into the sink, a touch of gel and blow dry at the end to make the hair stand up tall.

To top it off we grabbed kebabs on the way home. That is Fethiye in a nutshell.
Wow, Grant! The full head, neck and shoulder treatment! That must have been wild! So, does your hair stand up still? I bet it looks cool! I just ordered and got a big world map from Amazon yesterday, so Ben, Gabe and I can keep track of your travels! It’s so fun to see where you are and what you are doing. Great job with the blog. I love reading them all. Love you, Aunt Mary

Hi Granters! You and dad had quite the Spa Day!!! Those pictures are reallly great. It seems you have grown a foot since you left in September! Gumpa and I will have to brush up on our backgammon skills for when we see you again. Are you getting any cribbage in??
Watch out for those plastic seat pinch marks!! I hear they leave quite the scar!🤪
Do you do a lot of hand gestures to make people understand you? Is it mostly the older generation that is not understanding English?
Always look forward to new journal entries from you all. And we look forward to our FaceTiming too!
Enjoy the journey and thanks for keeping us informed!
Love love… Nonna ❤️
