For the past four or five months as our plans to travel reveled themselves beyond our kitchen table there were many questions and reactions. The one we got the most was “Where are you going?” To be honest the where was second tier to the when and how at our kitchen table but of course it’s the biggest question for others. When we looked that the map of the world we knew we wanted to hit Asia, Indonesia and Eastern Europe but the only country we were firm on was Slovenia. The last time we made this 360 degree trip we drove through this beautiful country and made a mental note that we would have to come back. When we were working on our itinerary we struggled with heading east or west on our first flight. Slovenia was the only concrete destination so we set our compass and took off. It has not disappointed.
We’ve landed in a larger town outside of the countries capital by about 45 minutes called Skofja Loka. There are many similarities to our own community with well used rec fields, packs of teenagers hanging out in the evenings, a creemee stand (aka gelato café), nice walking paths and a few local watering holes sprinkled about. The difference being the 13th century castle standing above the very well preserved medieval town. There’s plenty to explore by way of bike, hike and history. We’ll be posting as we get deeper into its dusty walls.

Thanks for all the updates Roguiers! Nice to follow along…
