DAY ONE: Going to Tadapani
Our trek was about 3 hours. We started with Nepalese flat (aka ups and downs) and then we started the climb. It was exhausting and N-O-T not fun! We took a short break and had tea. I did not like my ginger tea, it was too spicy. Then we got to a small town/village called Tadapani where we stayed for the night. Me and mom slept together on the first time, it was FREEZING. My nose was covered in ice when I woke up. Along the trail you stay in tea houses which are basically hotels with inch wide walls. So we could hear Dad and Grant in the room next to us chatting away all night. Each tea house has a common room with a wood stove and that’s also where you eat.

DAY TWO: Going to Durali
We started by going up for about three hours, it was tough but we saw monkeys on the way. They had white faces and brown bodies. They were super cool. It was like the jungle. Then we were there. When we first arrived there were a big group of Austrailians, we met two out of the 25 of them. They were eating French fries, I got them later and they were super good.

DAY THREE: Going to Ghorepani
We left about 7:30 and had all of our layers on including hats, gloves, mittens, fleeces under our puffy coats and many pants on. We were on our decent, as we were going down we found a place to sit down for a second. We were exactly 3165 meters above sea level. Cool, right? We got there for lunch because of our early start. We sat by the fire and had lunch. We also taught our guide Sagar 31 (Scat) and he was super good.

DAY FOUR: Poon Hill to Ulleri
I drowsy but awake we had gotten up to Poon Hill to see the sun rise. I did not want to go at first but then I thought: this is a once in a life time thing, so damn it I had to go. It was a breath taking sunrise out of the two I have seen in my life. Ulleri: We saw more monkeys but this time they were jumping it was like Grant’s flips off the boat in Turkey but there was no water under them. We made it to our last tea house for another chilly night.

DAY FIVE: Going to Pokhara
Today was not a long day of hiking but we did get to cross two suspension bridges, they were sick. We bounced, ran, looked over the sides and walked across the bridges. Then we got picked up by a jeep to return us home to Sandalwood and our favorite Pokhara activity- Disneyland Skate Park!!

Wow, Liv! You survived the 5 day hike, and it sounds like it was challenging and overall good. Sorry about that spicy tea. 🙂 I like to sleep in a cold bedroom, but your nights sounded pretty chilly. ….and jumping on a suspension bridge?? YIKES! Wasn’t it scary? What a mazing travels you are all having. And you weren’t too tired to go to the Disneyland Skate Park when you finished your hike! Fun, fun!! Love you.

🤣You guys are really learning how to “spin a yarn.” Giving us the frustrating and exhausting and freezing at day 1 and leading to the “once in a lifetime” revelation of working through it all by day 5. Brilliant writing Liv! Then there are those peaks! Spectacular!!

Sounds like a great hike. Look at that view! I would have probably been scared of the monkeys and definitely would have not been running on the bridge, ha.

Thanks for the recap, Olivia! Maizy and Miller were nodding the whole time, so you did a good job of summarizing their experience too!
